“Behold, I give you the authority to trample on serpents and scorpions, and over all the power of the enemy, and nothing shall by any means hurt you.” Luke 10:19

We have been given authority over the powers of darkness. In this scripture, serpents and scorpions represent demonic spirits that try to terrorize and destroy you, your family and the church. The key to overcoming and crushing demonic spirits is to use the authority that has been delegated to us as Jesus told us in Matthew 16:19, to pull down every wicked and demonic stronghold. When you utilize this delegated authority and walk in it, you are surrounded by God, nothing shall by any means hurt you! You are introducing God’s truth into the situation. Because you have been given the keys of authority, hell doesn’t possess the authority or the power to destroy you or to defeat you or the church.

“Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it will eat its fruit.” Proverbs 18:21

The very power of life and death reside in your mouth. Many believers give up their authority by speaking the wrong things. The direction of your life is found in the words that you release into the atmosphere. Your life is a product of the words that you’ve been saying. Words are very powerful, they can either create hell or heaven on earth in your life. Words carry authority and power-they are a weapon of warfare. There is more to your words.

“Bring your confession (words), and return to the Lord” Hosea 14:2

God has not given us over 3,000 promises in scripture for us to just read and think about, but so we can declare them for our lives, so we can possess them and live a life of victory. God’s word was spoken so it could be written-so that we could speak it out of our mouths. We receive the same results as Jesus were speaking them Himself. Speaking is a main ingredient in faith.

“Have faith in God,” Jesus answered. “Truly I tell you, if anyone says to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and does not doubt in their heart but believes that what they say will happen, it will be done for them.  Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.” Mark 11:22-24

Jesus first tells us to speak three times. Then He tells us to speak to the mountains in your life that need to be removed-sickness, pain, an addiction. Speak to it directly and command it, using the authority we have been given. Faith may not prevent all mountains in your life, but it will move all mountains. Jesus spoke clearly to situations. He commanded with authority. There is more to your words. There is the same power and authority Jesus had. There is a miracle in your mouth!
