Are you ready to continue getting comfortable being uncomfortable?
“For we walk by faith, not by sight.” –2 Corinthians 5:7 NKJV
Walking through life in our natural state-walking by sight, is comfortable. Making a rational decision about a situation is comfortable. When a situation arises that looks impossible, it’s easy to make decisions based on how you feel. Choosing the least challenging option. Our sight will dictate our perspective and affect our feelings.
YOUR CURRENT SITUATION DOES NOT HAVE TO BE YOUR FINAL DESTINATION
The situation you are currently in is challenging. But step out beyond your comfort zone, stretch your faith and have faith’s perspective. Have God’s perspective. There is so much more for you beyond this comfort zone of sight. When you are in a faith mindset, you will do things you wouldn’t do in your natural mindset. Go forward in life with faith’s perspective, where anything is possible!
“Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.” –Hebrews 11:1 KJV
Paul is telling us here that faith is laying hold to the unrealities of hope and bringing them into the realm of reality. Notice the first three words of this verse, “NOW FAITH IS.” Faith is for right now! Hope is future tense, pointing to the future. But faith is for right now. It works in your present circumstance; it moves mountains now! It will cause you to go places and do things you have never done before! Faith causes you to step out of your comfort zone for greater things! Don’t limit your life by looking at things in the natural senses. Begin to see with faith senses where anything is possible with God!
In Mark 2 we find Jesus coming back to Capernaum, His ministry hub and the home city of Peter. In Hebrew, Capernaum means “place of comfort.” It wasn’t by chance that this was a major place in the life and ministry of Jesus. It challenged the comfort zone of so many! Their lives, beliefs and the way they lived. To follow Jesus was the very definition of uncomfortable! In this chapter, we find Jesus in the house of Peter and it was crowed. There was a paralytic man who heard about Jesus. Stuck in his circumstances, he was unable to get to Jesus on his own. But he refused to stay stuck. His faith in that moment determined what happened next. He was determined to have an appointment with Jesus, to change his destiny. His spirit of faith was contagious, and his four friends caught the same spirit of faith.
YOUR FAITH WILL DETERMINE WHAT HAPPENS NEXT
When the five of them arrived at the house, they could not make it inside through the door. They had an option-to walk by sight, to say outside of the house and not get the healing they had come for. Or to let their faith determine the next move. They didn’t quit, failure was not an option. They were going to do what it took to get what they had come for. So, they tore through the roof and lowered the paralytic man into the house. Their faith INTERRUPTED what Jesus was doing. Interrupted all who were sitting at the healer’s feet. Comfortable in their religion, they received nothing but offense. The paralytic man, who was a nobody in their eyes, had something they didn’t-a spirit of faith! His faith was the thing that healed him!
INTERRUPT JESUS WITH YOUR FAITH
Oftentimes, we can find ourselves waiting for Jesus to pass by and fix our situation. But we have the same spirit of faith as the paralytic man had! Jesus wants to act upon our faith! Jesus responds to faith! Faith changes things-the way you live, the way you talk, your attitude. Faith gives you a confidence you’ve never had before!
