Moving forward in life requires getting uncomfortable. The exciting news? God has some encouraging words for us.

“HAVEN’T I COMMANDED YOU? STRENGTH! COURAGE! DON’T BE TIMID; DON’T GET DISCOURAGED. GOD, YOUR GOD, IS WITH YOU EVERY STEP OF THE WAY” -JOSHUA 1:9 (MSG)

Here we find Joshua moving from a place of comfort into a place that is uncomfortable. Moses has just died and Joshua finds himself stepping into a new role replacing Moses. Moving from his day to day life, to fill Moses’ shoes will challenge him in new ways causing his faith to be stretched, challenged.

GOD IS ALWAYS MOVING FORWARD, NOT BACKWARDS NOR SIDE TO SIDE

God is always moving forward, not backwards Nor side to side. And moving forward with our lives in Christ will absolutely call for you to get uncomfortable at times. But just like God encouraged Joshua, He is encouraging us to have strength and be courageous!

Life truly begins at the end of your comfort zone. This is why it is so important to learn to get comfortable with being uncomfortable. We have to be willing to get uncomfortable to step into greater things: greater seasons, greater success, greater influence. But for many, being stuck in the comfort zone is the very thing that’s holding you back from the greater things in life. It requires us to lay the very things we have been holding onto in our lives, that are comfortable, at the feet of Jesus. We must release it.

“CAST YOUR BURDEN ON THE LORD [RELEASE IT] AND HE WILL SUSTAIN AND UPHOLD YOU; HE WILL NEVER ALLOW THE RIGHTEOUS TO BE SHAKEN (SLIP, FALL, FAIL).”PSALM 55:22 (AMP)

In this verse, “burden” is our cares, worries and concerns. Sometimes, it can be more comfortable to hold on to these things. But when we do, they will ultimately lead to anxiety. So we must release it to God. This verse is saying that the burden is OURS and it’s OUR responsibility to give it to God. He can’t take it from us until we release it to Him! Many of us have been holding onto our cares and worries for far to long, that even the thought of releasing them is uncomfortable. If we continue to hold on to these things-our cares, worries, the “what if” scenarios” running through our minds- they will completely consume us.

“LEAVE ALL YOUR CARES AND ANXIETIES AT THE FEET OF THE LORD, AND MEASURELESS GRACE WILL STRENGTHEN YOU.” PSALM 55:22 (AMP)

God cares for us so deeply! He cares for the sparrow’s in the air, the lilies in the valley, and the trees planted in the fields. The Word tells us that we are EVEN MORE important to him than those things! Because He cares for us so deeply, He urges us to cast ALL of our cares onto Him!

“Cast ALL your cares upon Him, for He cares for you.”1 Peter 5:7 (NKJV)

In the Greek, casting refers to when someone was carrying an extremely heavy load, one too heavy to carry by oneself, they would push the burden up and off of them onto the animal to carry it. The animal became the burden carrier. Jesus is our burden carrier. Just like the animal, unable to take the load until it was given to it, we must first release it to Him.

God is calling us to live a life without worry and anxiety. Calling us to live in peace. This may seem impossible, but the bible gives us the answers we need to live that way. Holding on to our worries is comfortable, but it won’t lead to a life of prosperity. God is encouraging you today to get uncomfortable and release your cares to Him!
