“Now My soul is troubled, and what shall I say? Father, save Me from this hour? But for this purpose I came to this hour.” John 12:27
Knowing God’s purpose in your life gives you strength to endure. If you’re called to do anything for God, you’ll face your share of hard places. Whatever we do for God takes faith and determination.
Many of God’s people struggle with finding God’s will for their life. The first step in discovering His will for your life is to read the New Testament and put it into practice. You won’t have to find God’s purpose in your life, His purpose will find you. God didn’t create any of us to be unhappy, unproductive and unenergized. When you’ve found your passion in life, you’ve found your purpose in life.
“So I said, ‘Who are you, Lord?’ And He said, ‘I am Jesus, whom you are persecuting. But rise and stand on your feet; for I have appeared to you for this purpose, to make you a minister and a witness both of the things which you have seen and of the things which I will yet revel to you.” Acts26:15-16
Before Paul understood his purpose, he was destroying the very thing God called him to build. He was moving up the religious ladder in Judaism, but he wasn’t fulfilling Gods purpose in his life. Your purpose in life is not what you do for a living, it’s what you live to do. On the other hand, if your occupation is your passion, you’re doing what you were created to do, to be a businessmen. If Christian businessmen and women realize God’s grace upon their lives, their top financial priority would be to give more to the work of God. Some believers are called to support the work of God. Acts 10 and II Corinthians are two places in scripture that tell us to give to the kingdom of God.
“So let each one give as he purposes in his heart, not grudgingly or of necessity, for God loves a cheerful giver. And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.” II Corinthians 9: 7-8
But not all are called to the ministry of giving. God has given us all gifts to some degree. Simply trust God, step out by faith and let Him lead you. God cannot intervene in our affairs uninvited. That is why He gave us prayer. Just as it’s through prayer that God’s kingdom is released into the earth, it’s our prayers that God’s will is accomplished on the earth.
Two mistakes to avoid when following God’s will for your life: do not run from the call of God, and do not intrude into a ministry office where you’re not called. Uzziah was not an evil man, he was one of Judah’s best kings. But he made a mistake by intruding into an office that he was not called. Study the Word, pray, step out in faith and let God lead you and you will find your purpose.
