There is a silent killer in many believers’ lives’ and many don’t even know it’s there. It is pride. Self-pride, it’s all about the flesh, all about “me, myself and I.” Pride is the way of the world. The world is driven by an anti-Christ spirit, the spirit of pride. Pride was what caused Lucifer to fall.

“So humble yourselves under the mighty power of God, and at the right time he will lift you up in honor.” 1 Peter 5:6

There is more in humility. Humility, according to Webster, is freedom from pride or arrogance: the quality or state of being humble-not proud, not haughty, not arrogant, or assertive. Humility is doing what is pleasing to God above what you want to do. It is absolute trust in God.

“Pride goes before destruction, and a haughty (ARROGANT- PROUD) spirit before a fall.” Proverbs 16:18

There is a pride agenda affecting this generation. Pride produces a disconnect from God. It is the root of jealousy and selfishness.

“For jealousy and selfishness are not God’s kind of wisdom. Such things are earthly, unspiritual, and demonic. For wherever there is jealousy and selfish ambition, there you will find disorder and evil of every kind.” James 3:15-16

Pride places you in a position where you are in the enemy’s territory. It restricts relationship with God. It is extremely important to humble yourself to the point of surrender. It’s in surrender where we have the ability to hear God’s will and direction over our own personal desires.

Humility is a daily choice. It does not compromise its values to satisfy the flesh. Humility remains firm to the values that are written in the Word of God. Every day you have to lay down your own desires for His.

Proverbs 11:7-10 Gives us three things that take place when we humble ourselves. First, when you humble yourself, you can resist the devil and he will flee. Second, it takes humbling yourself to draw close to God, then He will draw close to you. Third, through humility, you will see honor and promotion. Drawing near to God is not found in a single act or prayer it’s found in the display of a lifestyle of humility. Humility is having a fear, honor, and respect for the Lord in your private life.

The book of proverbs tells us this about pride and humility:

·      Humility leads to wisdom and pride leads to disgrace 11:2

·      Humility takes advice and pride produces conflict 13:10

·      Humility leads to honor 15:33

·      Pride leads to punishment 16:5

·      Pride leads to destruction 16:18

·      Humility ends in honor and pride ends in downfall 18:12

·      Humility brings honor and pride brings humiliation 29:23

Humility is the key to going higher, to growth, to acceleration. It opens a door in our hearts giving God greater access. We must kill and remove pride out of our lives so He can take us to uncharted territory, into the more that is waiting for you.
