Where there is no vision [no revelation of God and His word], the people are unrestrained; But happy and blessed is he who keeps the law [of God]. Proverbs 29:18 AMP

Where there is no vision, the people parish. Vision is what can happen, sight is what is happening. You are never too young or too old to have vision. Vision is a function of the heart. Like having a vision for your family. To lead a legacy that will affect them, you must have vision. We need to grasp the vision that God has for us. But what keeps us from that vision?

  1. We do not take the time to quiet ourselves and listen to the Holy Spirit.
  2. We do not yield to the vision. We have the opportunity and yet we choose another. Yet if we walk in His vision, we prosper more than we do on our own.
  3. We lose sight of the vision by allowing distractions and problems to pull our focus instead.

If you find yourself not moving forward, you have found yourself in a loss of vision. When you lack vision, you lack purpose. If you do not have purpose, you forfeit your identity. You will not know your vision and your purpose without knowing your identity. You cannot fulfill your purpose or your calling without knowing who you are.

Where there is purpose, there is opposition and where God places purpose, satan places opposition. Satan is the author of opposition, and he will deceive you any way he can. He knows what a threat you will be in the purpose God gave you.

How do you react to opposition in your life? How you react, determines what comes next in your season. These moments of opposition, equal opportunity. Anytime you step out in something for God, you are met with opposition. There are spirits whose only job is solely to oppose you!

The attack is not about where you have been, it is about where you are going!

Our first reaction should ALWAYS be to go to God in prayer! God allows the opposition to make you better. It refines you and makes you stronger. In the book of Nehemiah, we read his story. How he was a cup bearer for the king. The bible tells us he was a man of faith, he was bold and humble. We read of his opposition and how he overcame it. The bible also tells us, he was also a man of prayer. And in his time of prayer God gave him a vision. Vision to build a wall! It was God’s vision before it was Nehemiah’s. And where God gives vision, he will supply all that is needed. As we read in Nehemiah 2:20 (NKJV), “So I answered them, and said to them, The God of heaven Himself will prosper us; therefore we His servants will arise and build, but you have no heritage or right or “memorial in Jerusalem.””. God gave Nehemiah the vision and that was all Nehemiah needed to be qualified. We need to stay firm in who we are and what God has shown us.

God’s plan for you, is to prosper you. His plan is a vision and a purpose. In every season there is new vision, new purpose, new influences, new opportunities, and new graces. If you do not allow God to refine you in your current season, how can you be impactful in the new one? Our lives are made up of seasons and purpose that all funnel into the will of God for your life. God intentionally gave each of us our own purpose and He has visions for us too.

You have been equipped with everything you were created to be. As it says in Nehemiah 4:18, we must build and battle! We must maintain the vision God gave us while standing firm against opposition.
