“Am I a God near at hand, says the Lord, and not a God afar off?” Jeremiah 23:24

As a child of God, not only is God living within you, but He is with you. He has declared that He will never leave nor forsake you. We should be aware of God’s omnipresence in our lives with the understanding that we have the ability and right to access His presence anytime we desire to. The question is, how many of us are actually tapping into His presence? How often are you stepping into His presence? I would dare to say that if we are honest with ourselves, the reality is that we don’t access His presence as much as we would like to admit.

“On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, “If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink.” John 7:37

To be a person of God’s presence, we first must be aware of His presence with us. Notice something in John 7:37. Jesus wasn’t talking to just anyone here. He was talking to a group of people who were thirsty. Not all who call themselves Christians are thirsty for God’s presence. We must understand that although God is omnipresent, He doesn’t manifest His presence everywhere. He will only manifest His presence where conditions are right-where He is invited and welcomed. It’s a result of someone who is thirsty, having a desire for Him.

“Oh taste and see that the Lord is good; Blessed is the man who trusts in Him!” Psalm 34:8

The word “taste” in this scripture in Hebrew means to perceive, or to recognize, acknowledge that the Lord is good. This is done from being in fellowship through relationship in His presence. This is not a one-sided relationship. It’s a two-sided relationship. We praise, worship, and speak to the Father, and He is there to speak and reveal things to us. God is waiting on you to access His presence. So, how do we access His presence?

“Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving; Let us shout joyful to Him with psalms.” Psalms 95:2

As you begin to praise Him for all He has done, you are humbling yourself to access His presence. Your praise is an invitation, welcoming Him into that moment.

“But thou art holy, O thou that inhabits the praises of Israel.” Psalms 22:3

God’s presence is in the praises of His people. This is how we access God’s presence. Through praise and thanksgiving. Make this a daily routine. In the morning, acknowledge that He is with you, then spend time with Him and praise Him. Once you are in His presence, then you can bring your needs to Him. He has all the answers. But understand that your needs come after you’ve praised Him and given Him thanks. It is all about Him. The greatest thing about God’s presence is the fact that He is there!
